The Wilcox Christian Learning Center was established on January 11, 2013. It was approved by the Wilcox County Board of Education that February. A cross-section of citizens from the Wilcox County community began in December of 2012 to form a steering committee to develop a plan to implement Released Time Classes for Wilcox County High School Students. Further discussion led to the decision to offer classes for the high School and the Middle School in the first year of operation. Our first classes were scheduled for the Fall of 2013.
The Wilcox Christian Learning Center (CLC) is a nonprofit, tax exempt school teaching SACS CASI accredited courses located in the old Wilcox County High School building on 7th Ave. in Rochelle, Georgia where elective courses based on Biblical principles are taught. Classes are offered from 4th grade through high school. Following are some noteworthy specifics:
· Successful completion of a CLC class receives course credit
· No cost to the student and no tax money is used
· Works in cooperation with school administration and school policy (i.e. discipline, grading, attendance, academic honesty, etc.)
· Through CLC classes, students are taught Christian concepts like honoring parents and respecting authority at all levels, purity before marriage, developing trust-bond friendships, living a life of integrity, and being a leader like Moses, Esther, David, Joshua, Nehemiah and Paul.
We are so blessed to live in a Christian community, please pray for the teachers at the center and all students, teachers and administration in the Wilcox County Public Schools.
The Wilcox Christian Learning Center is funded solely by donations, they receive no funding from the school system, if you would like to donate to the Wilcox Christian Learning Center contact them at 229-365-3530 for more information.
